To Mr Neece,
Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to express your views on the Trump Administration’s lack of action to release the Epstein files. As your U.S. Representative, I can assure you that your voice has been heard, and your message has been received by my office.
Like you, I was horrified to learn of the documented trafficking of young women and girls by Jeffrey Epstein, a sex offender and financier with whom the President often socialized years ago. The people who have abused these girls should be fully prosecuted by the law, and I firmly support the release of the Epstein files to the public.
For years, Trump and those in his orbit, including the Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, alleged that prior administrations had covered up the identities of Epstein’s rich and powerful coconspirators, as well as the details surrounding Epstein’s death. After claiming that they could release the reports, the Trump Administration is now making every excuse in the book to not release the files. There appear to be only two explanations for this shift: either the Epstein files did not contain the explosive information that Trump and his allies claimed during his campaign, and they exploited the horror of sex trafficking for political gain, or this administration is the one covering up what is in the files.
In July, every single House Republican bent the knee to Trump and voted against releasing the Epstein files. Redacting the victims’ names and releasing the files is the responsible thing to do. Either Trump lied to the American people or Republicans are engaging in a cover-up. By cancelling votes to avoid talking about the situation at hand is a great disservice to the American people; this is just another example of Republicans prioritizing President Trump’s agenda over the American people.
All Americans deserve the right to access public information, especially when it concerns the safety of our children. When there is such an effort to avoid transparency, such as the effort undertaken by the Trump Administration to avoid releasing the Epstein files, it harms Americans and their right to important information. That’s why I signed onto Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie’s discharge petition to force a vote to release the files. As your representative, I will continue to do my part to ensure that the Epstein files get released in its full, unredacted form.
Thank you for contacting me, and please continue to keep in touch on issues of concern. Additionally, if you would like to stay up to date with the work I’m doing on behalf of North Carolina’s Fourth District, you can sign up for my e-newsletter, and follow me on Bluesky, Facebook, Threads, and Instagram.
