Dear Mr Neece,
Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts on releasing the Epstein files. As your Congressman, I welcome the opportunity to be of service and encourage you to sign up for my weekly e-newsletter to stay up to date on events in Washington, D.C., and at home in the Ninth District.
As you may know, Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy American financier who became known for operating a vast sex-trafficking ring involving underage girls. He was first convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor and was later arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking dozens of minors. However, he died in jail before facing trial. Let me be perfectly clear: I unequivocally condemn these heinous crimes, and I believe that combating child exploitation must be a priority.
To identify perpetrators and bring those involved to justice, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as the House Oversight Committee, have been investigating materials and documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and his crimes. Since the start of the investigation, the Oversight Committee has released more than 33,000 pages of Epstein-related records from the DOJ, which you can access here. Additionally, in November, they released over 20,000 additional records from the Epstein Estate, which you can view here.
Most recently, H.R. 4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed the House by a vote of 427–1, with my support, on November 18, 2025. This legislation requires the DOJ to release all documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Several of my Republican colleagues and I expressed concerns about the wording of the petition, as it did not provide explicit safeguards for the privacy of victims or protections for whistleblowers. We had hoped that the Senate would amend the resolution to include these additional protections; however, the Senate unanimously passed the legislation without such provisions, and President Trump signed it into law.
Please know that I remain committed to advancing transparency and accountability in this matter and will continue to monitor the release of these files while advocating for the protection of the victims involved.
Thank you again for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Rep. Andrew Clyde
Member of Congress
