26th Response from United States Congress Regarding Marller Gets a Spinoff: The Return of Jeffrey Epstein

February 20, 2026

Mr Neece,

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on releasing documents related to the criminal case against Jeffrey Epstein. It is good to hear from you on this important issue.

On November 18, 2025, I voted against H.R. 4405, the Epstein Files Transparency Act. My stance never wavered since the bill was first introduced back in July. As introduced, my friend Thomas Massie's "Epstein Files Bill" failed to adequately protect the identities of victims and witnesses. Further, H.R. 4405 abandoned 250 years of Constitutionally-sound criminal justice procedure. My full statement on the vote is available here.

The House Oversight Committee has authority regarding constitutionally sound Congressional investigation of the Epstein sexual exploitation network. That investigation has already produced well over 60,000 pages of documents from the Epstein case. I’ve stated from the very beginning… I will support transparency of our investigation precisely in accordance with longstanding criminal justice procedures and Constitutional protections of the innocent. I remain unwavering on this principle. Please be assured that I will consider your comments as the Oversight Committee continues its investigation into this matter.

Again, I appreciate your thoughts, and it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Your suggestions are always welcome. If I can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me at https://clayhiggins.house.gov.

Respectfully,

Clay Higgins

Member of Congress
