37th Response from United States Congress Regarding Marller Gets a Spinoff: The Return of Jeffrey Epstein

February 20, 2026

Dear Mr Neece,

Thank you for reaching out to me and sharing your thoughts on the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405). Like you, I believe the American people deserve the full, unredacted truth about Jeffrey Epstein, his criminal network, and the failures that allowed his abuse to persist for far too long.

The Epstein case continues to raise serious questions for me and for many Americans. Congress has a responsibility to ensure that any remaining records are reviewed and released in a manner that respects both public interest and legal standards.

That is why earlier this year, I supported the resolution directing the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to deepen its investigation into the federal government’s handling of the Epstein and Maxwell cases. It also mandated the public release of key records from the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Treasury, and Epstein’s estate. The committee has already made over 53,000 pages available to the public – an important first step toward accountability.

Now, with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, Congress has the opportunity to take it even further. This legislation ensures that all DOJ-held records, investigative files, and court documents are made public. I voted to release everything because transparency is not a partisan issue – it is a matter of justice and trust.

Survivors of Epstein’s abuse deserve closure. The public deserves answers. And our institutions must demonstrate that no one, no matter how wealthy or well-connected, is above the law.

By shining a light on the truth, we can restore confidence in our justice system, prevent future abuses, and hold those who enabled Epstein’s crimes accountable. Justice delayed is justice denied, and I will continue to stand with survivors and fight for transparency.

Once again, thank you for contacting me. Should you wish to discuss this issue further, feel free to call my office at 202-225-5665.

Sincerely,

Tony Wied

Member of Congress
