Dear Mr. Neece,
Thank you for contacting me about the release of files related to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein. Hearing from you helps me better understand our friends and neighbors from across the First Congressional District of Texas.
Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex offender who was accused of horrific, abusive, and disgusting crimes against dozens of women and young girls. After receiving a controversial plea deal in 2007, Epstein was arrested by federal agents in 2019 on a sex trafficking charge and died in his jail cell while awaiting trial.
Over the past several months, I have continually supported the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's efforts to release over 65,000 pages of documents related to the Epstein investigation, issuing subpoenas to the Department of Justice and the Epstein estate, and meeting with brave survivors of Epstein's abuse. Transparency and consistency are essential to restoring trust and accountability in government. The victims and the American people deserve full accounting.
Over the past few years—under both Presidents Biden and Trump—I have remained consistent in calling for the full release of the files and protection for the victims.
That is why, on November 18, 2025, I voted in favor of H.R. 4405 which requires the Department of Justice to release the remaining Epstein files. This includes all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials—while allowing the Attorney General to withhold personally identifiable information of victims.
As you may know, President Trump signed H.R. 4405 into law on November 19, 2025. While Democrats ignored the calls for transparency, it is now time for the American people to receive the much-needed transparency.
Thank you again for contacting me about this issue. It is an honor to represent you and the entire First Congressional District of Texas. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of assistance to you in the future.
Sincerely,
Nathaniel Moran
Member of Congress
