10th Response from United States Congress Regarding Handala Hack Team Iran War

April 3, 2026

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for contacting my office regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. As always, I welcome your input.

As you may know, on June 13, 2025, Israel conducted a targeted military strike inside Iran in response to Iran’s continued aggression in the region, including its direct missile and drone attacks against Israeli civilians, and the continued development of its nuclear weapons program. Iran retaliated by launching additional attacks, including ballistic missiles and drones. Further, on June 21, 2025, President Trump ordered precision airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities. These strikes significantly decimated Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, setting back its weapons program. There is no doubt that Iran, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations want to see the United States and Israel cease to exist. President Trump’s actions sent a clear and necessary message, the United States will not tolerate Iranian aggression or allow it to obtain a nuclear weapon.

In February, President Trump gave Iran 15 days to agree to halt uranium enrichment, but Iran rejected this demand. On February 27, President Trump authorized combat operations against Iran due to concerns of uranium enrichment, ballistic missiles, and Tehran’s crackdown on protestors. On March 1, 2026, Iranian state television confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

President Trump has been consistent. A nuclear Iran poses a threat to our nation, our military personnel, and our allies in the region. His decision to strike Iran is necessary to keep our nation and our allies safe and ensure the number one sponsor of terrorism does not develop nuclear weapons, which is why I voted against H.Con.Res. 38, Directing the President pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. As your Representative, I will continue to monitor the situation. Please know I will keep your views in mind should additional legislation regarding this issue come to a vote before me in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Again, thank you for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me with future questions or comments.

Sincerely,

JOHN MOOLENAAR

Member of Congress
