Kevin Neece doesn't have any experience in running a company like his grandfather Roy Neece did. In that I can admit. If Roy Neece had expected his grandson to take over his Family Business, I wouldn't have a fucking clue what to do with it. Roy Neece wasn't handed the CEO role of his company in Saginaw Texas because he was born into a Family Legacy, he had to build his company from scratch and give jobs to an entire local town. One day, Roy Neece tried to do the Christian Thing and gave jobs to two illegal immigrants because he believed that everyone deserved the right to support their families without judgment. Roy Neece's kindness backfired on him when those two illegal immigrants realized what a sweet job it was, with benefits, and decided to spread rumors among the other employs so they could create job openings for all of their illegal immigrant buddies. When the entire staff was misinformed that Roy Neece was planning to replace them with more illegal immigrants because they were cheaper to employ, they were all viciously offended and performed a mass walk out, leaving Roy Neece high and dry in a situation that could destroy his entire career. Roy Neece did the one thing he could think of to find a solution to the problem. He immediately fired the two illegal immigrants who spread the rumors, then he went to the home addresses of every single employee that worked for him, got down on his knees at their front door, and apologized to them, he asked them for forgiveness, and he begged them to come back to him. What Roy Neece did in that situation saved his company for years.
I would like you to name a single solitary CEO working in the business today that has the humility to do what Roy Neece did. You can't name a single one of them can you? Not Tim League. Not Elon Musk. Not Donald Trump. Not David Zaslov. Not Robert Iger. And certainly not Yoshinobu Noma. None of these CEOs have the courage to do what my grandfather Roy Neece did because they believe that a Company CEO bending the knee to apologize to their Employees classifies as a sign of weakness.
Roy Neece had to retire someday, and made the mistake of selling his company to a man who intentionally ran his business into the ground and filed for bankruptcy, after which is was revealed that a million dollars went missing from the petty cash fund without explanation, and the Judge refused to hold him accountable because his decision was final. Roy Neece came from a generation where it was possible for a CEO to make his stake on his own without success being handed to him because he was born into the right family. Roy Neece didn't treat his company secretary as his playtoy mistress. Roy Neece married his secretary and made her his wife Virginia, and the mother of his two children.
The Basic Idea of what a CEO is supposed to be, is he is given control over the entire company because he's the Smartest Man in the Room. But being the Smartest Man in the Room doesn't mean believing you are Smarter than Everyone Else and Always Right, it means you have the humility to realize that every CEO is prone to Human Error and Make Judgment Errors, which is why the Best CEOs always surrounded themselves with Employees that he believes are even smarter than he is.
Tim League was a terrible fucking CEO who had no business running a restaurant disguised as a Movie Theater, but even he understood the concept by surrounding himself with the Best Programmers and Best Video Mixtape Artists in the Business. Alamo Drafthouse was the Greatest Programming in America, it just sucked as a business because Tim League didn't understand how to run a restaurant without exploiting his own employees.
Now I ask you this, how can a CEO possibly be the Smartest Man in the Room when he is prepared to fire anybody who attempts to stand up to him and warn him that he's making a judgment error. The entire reason Donald Trump has such a bad rap as President of the United States is because every time he gets out of line, his employees are either fired or forced to resign because they are required to tell him the truth. Be careful what you wish for because the truth isn't always what you want to hear.
Yoshinobu Noma isn't the CEO of Kodansha Ltd because he's the smartest man in the room. Yoshinobu Noma wasn't the one who built Kodansha Ltd up from the ground from nothing, that accomplishment was performed by his great grandfather Seiji Noma. The only reason that Yoshinobu Noma is the CEO is because he was lucky to be born in the right family who decided he was the most qualified after they put him through an education. But how can Yoshinobu Noma be the smartest man in the room when the only people who are allowed to perform his job are other members of the Noma Family. The one thing that remains consistent about Family is they never have any control over whether the next generation is going to live up to their responsibilities. Every Family has their Black Sheep. Including the Rothschild Family, and the Politicians. And the A-List Hollywood Actors. Every Family has a Total Fuck Up. If Yoshinobu Noma hadn't been born, then the Kodansha CEO would just be the next one in line in his Family. It's not because they're the right person for the job, it's because they only have so many family members to work with. That's the problem when you insist that the Family Business should only remain in the Family.
Should the Next CEO of Kodansha Ltd really be the next in line in the Noma Family just because they were born? Are they really qualified to handle the job more than an employee who has been working for Kodansha Ltd for decades and actually put the work in? Do you really believe that the Noma Family enjoy being told that they are required to work as Publishers when they grow up just to please their Ancestors Legacy when they could be happier working in another profession that actually appeals to them?
Somebody please explain to me how Yoshinobu Noma's standing as the CEO of Kodansha Ltd makes him the Smartest Man in the Room when he was unable to come up with a solution to Kevin Neece's problem in the entire nine years that I've been writing into his company. Even if he had no interest in helping me, he certainly never came up with a solution to get rid of me. And he never found a way to come after me or stop me from making Ah My Goddess outside of the Company. Do you know what a CEO who cannot solve problems is called? Incompetent. An Incompetent CEO that cannot solve problems is useless. And a Useless CEO has no business being in charge of employee's jobs just because he was born in a Family that demanded he become a Publisher like his Great Grandfather.
That's the reason why Kodansha Ltd and Dark Horse Comics cannot get rid of Kevin Neece. It's because their only solution to the problem is to pretend he doesn't exist and isn't their concern. Well that doesn't solve the problem. If their only solution is for Kevin Neece to continue making Ah My Goddess by himself without pay while he is blacklisted and unemployed, without any kind of discussion or interaction with the people who work for the company or the anime show, so they can pretend that their company is based on Ethics? That's not a solution that solves the problem or makes it go away. That's passing the buck and hoping that it never comes back to you to bite you in the ass. None of the employees who work for Kodansha Ltd would continue to work under the circumstances that Kevin Neece is forced to work under on Ah My Goddess. Because nobody can work without a way to provide for themselves. Kevin Neece has his mother to live with and help keep him off the streets, but the staff members of Kodansha Ltd cannot just move back in with their parents so they can have creative freedom now can they.
What the makers of Ah My Goddess, Kodansha Ltd, and Dark Horse Comics have done is one of the most horrible human rights violations that I have ever witnessed in my entire non-existent career. It's even worse than working for Fry's Electronics, Family Dollar, Sam's Club, and Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek. It's even worse than performing unpaid volunteer work on Austin Public Access only to be scandalized off the show for something that wasn't even my own fault. Those Voice Actors didn't do this to me because I have mental health issues. They chose to do this to me from the very first day that I attempted to contact them. They made up their minds before they even met me because they believed their job titles in the entertainment industry made them above me. And it's entirely because they were following policies enforced by SAG AFTRA.
Kevin Neece does not judge people based on how they advertise and present themselves to their clients and customers, because the entire Hollywood Film Industry is an Illusion. He judges them based on their actions and behavior as human beings. If Sean Astin has friends that believe he's the nicest guy in the world, it doesn't matter in the slightest if he chooses to treat Kevin Neece like the Past Nine Years of his life doesn't exist in his universe.
Yoshinobu Noma's standing as the CEO of Kodansha Ltd doesn't automatically classify him as the Smartest Person in the Room, just because he had the honor of being Seiji Noma's great grandson, it makes him LOWER THAN DOGSHIT.
