The Art of Making Bad Movies on Ah My Goddess 10/2/2026

Somebody made a post online about how people lose respect for the process of filmmaking because they believe the filmmaking methods have become easier to make.

My response to that is: "You don't know how much work went into making my Ah My Goddess fan films because you weren't standing in the room looking over my shoulder when I made them". Bad Movies are Difficult to make too, because ALL Movies are difficult to make. The Production Process of making Bad Goddess and Marller Gets a Spinoff is the same as an unpaid intern working a full time job to get his foot in the door, only Kevin Neece has been doing it for nine years.

It took me a week to write the screenplay for Spielbergian Housewarming Gift and Boots Riley Cometh, but it took me several hours a day for nearly an entire month to format it into it into movie that you see online.

I had to choose which images to photoshop, I had to manipulate the backgrounds off of limited photos to make it look like five different characters were standing in a room conversing with each other. I had to choose the background photos behind them that match the conversations. I had to copy and paste the dialogue one line at a time, I had to convert copy and paste the text to speech voice tracks, for thousands of photo stills, and I had to sit down and carefully watch the videos to catch my mistakes at the end of the night to make sure I didn't fuck up on the job.

Those two movies were a full time job that I wasn't paid for, and my reward is a bunch of assholes on the internet get to insult me for making them because I wasn't allowed to use a real voice cast, and nobody wants to see the videos animated with AI Deepfakes because it now comes with a Two Year Prison Sentence in the State of Texas.

Nobody is pretending that the work that Kevin Neece does on Ah My Goddess is the same as the work that Hiroaki Goda's Animation Staff did on the original Ah My Goddess. You get what you pay for and these movies are being made on a zero budget from stock materials. What the fuck were you people expecting for no money, Orson Welles Citizen Kane?

Do Kosuke Fujishima and Kodansha Ltd really have the right to insult Kevin Neece's work as bad movies when they are directly responsible for preventing him from working with real voice actors to appease SAG AFTRA? It's not the screenplays that are the problem, it's the voice actors. The technology exists to animate these movies on a non-budget now, you just don't want to use it because you are afraid it will take your jobs.
